Components to GLAD Training:

2-day Orientation*:

Train in theory and research with practical classroom implications and applications covering the works of educators across the disciplines: reading, writing, brain compatible teaching, language acquisition, cross-cultural respect, primary language, and coaching. Research is directly tied to specific classroom implications, strategies and organization.

Dates: Thursday, July 19 and Friday, July 20, 2018

Time: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Location: Grant Watts Elementary School (33589 SE High School Way, Scappoose, OR 97056)

4-day Classroom Demonstration:

Observe a classroom demonstration all morning. The unit is written by the team of trainers and is standards based for that grade level. One of the trainers works with the children, presenting the strategies. The other trainer is coaching the teachers who are observing in the back of the room. The coach focuses on what is being done, why, and generally answering questions concerning the lessons. Afternoons are spent on feedback, collaboration, and planning. Seeing successful strategies with students is the most effective method of promoting change.

Dates: Monday July 23 - Thursday July 26, 2018

Time: 8:00 am – 3:30pm
